The Marion County State’s Attorney has released a 32-year-old Salem man without filing any charges after he was arrested Wednesday by Salem Police on two counts of aggravated battery. Salem Police say the mother of seven and eight-year-old boys had wanted Samuel Higgins of East Oglesby arrested for allegedly swatting the children when she had specifically told him she did not want him disciplining the two boys.
Centralia Police arrested 26-year-old Dustin McClaren of South Sycamore in Centralia for alleged domestic battery.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Department arrested three people on outstanding warrants. 32-year-old Rodney Cassidy of Boone Street in Salem was being held in lieu of $2,500 bond on a failure to appear traffic warrant. 29-year-old Bobby Moats of Oak Street in Mt. Vernon was arrested on a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant and was being held in lieu of $2,500 bond. 23-year-old Jaime Clark of Smith Street in Walnut Hill posted $500 cash bond and was released on a Marion County felony warrant.
