The Salem 11u are in the District Championship in Mt Carmel. They will take on the hosts tonight at 8pm after last night’s win over Robinson 13-3 in an elimination game.
Salem left no doubt early in the game scoring 11 times in the first inning. Devan Jennings doubled twice with extra base hits also from Dakota Gregg, Ben Skibinkski and Isaac Knapp.
Knapp drove in 3 runs with 2 RBI each from Emit Gibson, Tanner Purintun and Skibinkski. Also driving in runs were Jennings, Butts and Gregg. Ben Lux had 2 hits, Eli Purdy cored a run.
Purdy went 4 innings in the win allowing just 1 hit and struck out 7. Jennings worked an inning.
Salem returns to Mt Carmel tonight to play the hosts at 7pm. If Salem wins, they would play tomorrow night in a winners take all game against Mt Carmel, a loss and the tournament would be over tonight.
