A 36-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been arrested on child pornography and methamphetamine charges.
James Hembree was taken into custody at his home in the 300 block of Harrison Street last Monday when a search warrant was executed.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department says the search warrant was initially conducted for records after they received a tip on June 28th from the Internet Crime Against Children Task Force of suspected child pornography activity.
When the search warrant was executed by members of the Mt. Vernon Police Department/Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Joint Narcotics Unit at Hembree’s residence evidence was seized and Hembree was also arrested for possession of methamphetamine.
Bond for Hembree was set at $250,000 during his first appearance in Jefferson County Court on five counts of dissemination of child pornography and one count of possession of under five grams of methamphetamine. A public defender was appointed to represent Hembree.
