Norman G. Steinhoff, 80 of Salem, Illinois passed away July 4, 2023, at his home with his loving wife and family by his side.Born January 2, 1943, in Olean, NY, he was the son of Alton Roy Steinhoff, Sr. and Margaret Frances Scheminger Steinhoff.Norman Served in the United States Army. An outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing, and sailing. He enjoyed playing golf. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Salem.He married Linda R. (Smith) Cannon in Colorado and she survives in Salem.Also surviving is his daughter, Elizabeth Steinhoff of California, two step-children Kent Rice and wife Melody of Xenia, IL, and Marcie Cook and husband Gary of Rinard, Illinois along with 6 grandchildren. Also left to mourn his passing is a brother Michael Steinhoff and his wife Deborah, sister Rosemary Anderson all of Colorado, and sister Sarah Combs of Arizona.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son David Steinhoff, and brother Alton R. Steinhoff II, and his sister Rita O’Donnell.A Celebration of Life service is planned for 11:00 am. Monday, July 10, 2023, at First Christian Church in Salem with Phil Martin, minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Oddfellow Cemetery, Xenia, IL. Visiting hours will be from 9:00 am. until the service hour at the church. Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside by the Salem American Legion Post #128. Memorials may be made to the Pregnancy Care Clinic 301 N. Walnut St., Salem, IL 62881 and will be accepted by the Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 97, 310 N. Broadway, Salem, IL 62881 (618) 548-1234, entrusted with the family’s care.
