Lucille Mills, 93, of Algonquin, Illinois passed away Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Avondale Estates, Elgin, Illinois.Born March 20, 1930, in Benton, IL she was the daughter of Sherman Irvin and Anna Mae (Spriggs) Barnfield.Lucille will be remembered as devoted to Christ. She partnered with her husband Rev. Harmon B. Mills, Jr. in every aspect of his ministry. She loved to share the Gospel of Christ at every opportunity, seeing people drawn to the Savior through Back yard Bible Schools, Bible studies, and touching hearts with scripture as an outstanding Sunday School Teacher. Lucille was gifted at seeing a need in people’s lives. A true prayer warrior, she graciously touched many hearts with her smile and gentle ways as she shared Biblical truths that encouraged them to see their need, then turned themselves over to Jesus Christ who would guide their every step. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Salem, IL.She united in marriage with Harmon B. Mills, on June 12, 1948, in Benton, Illinois.Surviving are her children, Kathleen Hay of Illinois, Beth Ahlgren and partner Damien Jahnke, Somerset, WI, and Debra L. Brotzman and husband Daniel of Carpentersville, Illinois. Also 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son Daniel Harmon Mills.Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Salem with Dr. Andy DeWitt officiating. Visiting hours will be from 9:30 am until the service hours at the church. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. The family has suggested memorials be made to Samaritans Purse and will be accepted by the Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home, P.O. Box 97, 310 N.
