The Salem Wildcats varsity baseball team finished up their summer season winning the league tournament title over Altamont 6-2 in a game that was moved from Salem to Mount Vernon due to the rain we received yesterday.
Altamont took an early lead 2-0 on a long home run from Schultz. Salem answered back with 3 runs in the fifth inning and 3 more in the sixth and that was enough for starter Noah Nix who went the distance allowing 6 hits and struck out 17 and walked none in a great effort.
Offensively for the Cats, Nix doubled as part of his 2-hit day and drove in a run along with Josh Powless, Gavin Zimmermann had 2 hits and scored 2 runs, Jalen Inlow drove in a run and Kam Wilkins had a hit and 2 runs scored.
Salem’s summer ends at 13-2.
