The 12th Annual Greater Centralia Area Veterans 4th of July Parade is scheduled for the afternoon of the 4th next Tuesday at one pm.
The event is sponsored by the Centralia Veterans Committee. Butch Mathus is once again organizing the parade and reports there are currently 32 entries.
“Want everyone to be there to show the support for our Veterans and the sacrifices they have done for our nation and the freedoms we have. And that’s what July 4th is about, celebrating our freedom.”
Mathus says the parade route will be the same as in past years.
“We will start lining up around 12-12:15 and the parade will start at 1pm at the corner of Chestnut and Broadway will proceed west all the way to Fairview Park and we will do the awards ceremony right there by the Veterans Memorial.”
There is still time to enter the parade. You can contact Mathus at (618) 533-5602 or 322-4238 or sign up at the registration table before the parade starts.
There will be prizes for top entries in civic, patriotic, and family categories.
