The Salem Grade School Board is moving forward with emergency sewer line repair for a line that runs underneath the floor of Hawthorn Grade School.

Superintendent Dr. Leslie Foppe says the emergency fix will be able to be completed by inserting a new pipe within the line without having to dig up some of the flooring.  Lanz Underground Solutions will complete the work at a cost of $65,920.

She also reported to the board that the installation of the new kitchen floor at Hawthorn School should be completed in July.  Foppe says work will also be completed this summer to replace the carpet in a few areas at Franklin Park School.  She is still waiting for the costs to be finalized.

Foppe told the board some copper and desks were taken from behind the Franklin Park building.  Salem Police were notified.

In personnel news, the board employed Paige Saupe as a sixth-grade math teacher and McKenna Barnfield as a sixth-grade special education teacher.  The board accepted a letter of resignation from Special Education Administrator Olivia Schimp.
