The Salem Jr Legion opened up the Mudcat Tournament yesterday in Carlyle falling to the hosts 11-0. Carlyle put up 8 runs in the 2nd inning to pull away. Payton Gullion broke up the perfect game in the fourth inning when he doubled. Brendan Smith also singled to account for the 2 Wildcat hits. Carter Lowe was the pitcher for Salem as the sophomore went 4 innings and allowed 11 runs, but only 2 of them were earned. He struck out 6. Salem returns to action at 1pm today in a consolation semifinal against either Breese or Triad.
