The Irvington Fire Department reports a minor injury in a mobile home fire at the Crawford residence at 19701 North Copple Lane in rural Dix Tuesday afternoon.
A woman who came home after the fire began received apparent minor injuries when being cut by the glass when getting back out a window she entered to locate her dog. Chief Andy McDaniel says she had to leave because of the heavy smoke. She was taken by private vehicle for treatment at an urgent care facility. Sadly the dog didn’t make it.
McDaniel says the first arriving engine noted smoke from the back of a single-wide mobile home. The fire was contained to a laundry room and master bedroom of the home but there was heavy smoke damage throughout.
The fire was brought under control quickly using a crew from Irvington and Woodlawn Fire. Jefferson Fire Protection District was also called for mutual aid. Mutual aid firemen remained on the scene for approximately an hour and a half while the Irvington fire department remained on scene until approximately seven Tuesday night.
Irvington Firemen then fought a shed fire on Tuesday night.
Shortly after 8 pm, the Irvington Fire Protection District was notified via phone from a member of the department of heavy smoke in the area of Tower Road. A member of the department went to investigate and located a small shed on fire at 13988 Tower Road in rural Richview. Ashley and Hoyleton were dispatched for automatic mutual aid.
The first arriving engine found a small shed fully involved in fire with partial collapse. Crews from Irvington and Hoyleton had the fire under control in a couple of minutes and remained on the scene for approximately 45 minutes. The fire was found to be accidental in nature due to a small trash fire that was left unattended.
