The Salem Wildcats varsity baseball team improved to 11-2 on the summer with a pair of home wins over Woodlawn. The opener Salem won 10-0 as Rhett Detering tossed a no-hitter. He struck out 10 and walked 3 in his 4 innings. At the plate, Josh Powless tripled going 2-3 with an RBI and 3 runs scored; Ryan Detering doubled home a run, Gavin Zimmerman 2 hits and 2 RBI with runs driven in also from Kam Wilkins, Aden Bass, Cooper Lobek, Braden Rector and Nate Paulson.
The Cats scored 3 times in the fourth inning to erase a 3-1 deficit and earned a 4-3 victory. Zimmermann went all five innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and struck out 5. At the plate, Rhett Detering was 2-2 with 2 runs scored, Noah Nix doubled, Lobek scored along with Keaton Gullion.
