The Trenton Gator Classic Senior Legion Tournament began last night. In games played at Aviston, Alton shutout the Aviston Conductors 5-0. They will play this morning at 11:30 in the semifinals against Aviston Express after their 1-0 win over Highland. Chase Lewis had the RBI groundout in the bottom of the sixth for the winner. The Conductors and Highland play at 9:30 in Aviston this morning.
At Trenton, Steeleville’s Chase Newby tossed a 1-hitter and struck out 17 but it wasn’t enough as Carlyle nips them 1-0. Carlyle will take on Trenton today at 11:30 in the semifinals after the Gators beat Rantoul.
