Salem’s JV Baseball Splits With Visiting Newton

The Salem Jv split their double header with visiting Newton.  Salem dropped the first game 12-11 as the Cats made 6 errors and allowed 8 unearned runs in the loss.  At the plate, Carter Lowe had 2 doubles and a triple while driving in 2.  Brody Collier had 2 hits and 3 RBI.  Jackson Green also had 2 RBI.  Avery Gullion was 3-4 with an RBI and 3 runs scored, Payton Gullion added an RBI.  Eli Lograsso had a hit and scored along with Evan Barnes and Ketyin Grawe.  Aden Rostance scored a run.

In the nightcap, Payton Gullion was good on the mound as the freshman allowed 0 earned runs and just 3 hits in 4 innings and struck out 7 as Salem won 10-4.  Max Vincent earned the win in relief as he worked the final 2 innings.  Salem trailed 4-3 before scoring 7 times in the fifth inning to take the lead.  At the plate, Brendan Smith had 2 hits and 2 RBI, Alijah Carroll drove in a run, Payton Gullion singled and scored twice with an RBI, Evan Barnes drove in a run.
