The Salem Varsity Wildcats dropped their first game of the summer after Highland hit a walk-off, 3-run homer to win their game yesterday 4-1.  Salem didn’t get their first hit in the game until the fifth inning when Josh Powless singled.  Noah Nix scored that inning to give Salem a 1-0 lead.  Highland would tie it in the 6th before the heroics in the seventh.  Gavin Zimmermann was really good on the mound going 5.2 allowing 4 hits and 1 run with 4 strikeouts.  Braden Rector had the only other Salem hit.  The Varsity Cats will play 2 at Woodlawn today starting at 6pm.
