The small school state semifinals were played yesterday at Dozer Park in Peoria.
Columbia rode their ace Dominic Voegele in the 2a state semifinals and he did not disappoint throwing a shutout in the Eagles 9-0 win over DePaul College Prep to advance to the state finals today where they will play Joliet Catholic at 5:30 following their 10-3 win over Quincy Notre Dame. The 3rd place game will begin around 3pm.
Waterloo Gibault beat Goreville 7-6 and will play for the 1a state title today at 11:30 against Henry Senachwine after their 2-1 win over Newman Central Catholic. The 3rd place game will be at 9am.
