Post 128 Seniors Win Pair To Open Season

Salem Post 128 Senior Legion opened their season yesterday with 2 dominant wins at Fairfield.  Salem scored 9 times in the first inning of the opening game to win 13-1.  Noah Nix was the winning pitcher.  Gavin Zimmerman received 6 runs of support in the opening inning of Game 2 as he was the winner in a 15-6 final.

In the opening game, Salem pounded out 12 hits.  Salem got 3 RBI from Gavin Zimmermann, Josh Powless doubled twice and drove in a run.  2 RBI from Kam Wilkins and Noah Nix.  Also driving in Post 128 runs were Jalen Inlow and Nate Paulson.  Colton Shelton had a hit and scored twice along with Rhett Detering.  Keaton Gullion also scored a run.  Nix was dominant scattering 3 hits allowing just one earned and struck out 5.

Salem had 19 hits in the 2nd game on their way to an easy win.  Powless had another big game with his 3rd double of the night and drove in 4 runs going 4-4.  Shelton had 3 RBI on 3 hits with RBI also from Zimmermann, Inlow, Paulson, Aden Bass and Cody Beard.  Ryan Detering had 2 hits along with Nix.  Zimmermann worked 3 innings allowing 4 hits and 2 runs while striking out 4.
