The Salem Jr Legion Post 128 split their home double header with Mount Vernon yesterday. Salem lost the opener 7-1. Angel Salgado drove in the only Salem run scoring Jackson Green. Keyton Grawe also singled. Carter Lowe took the loss going 6 innings with Aden Rostance getting the final 3 outs.
In the second game, Payton Gullion hit a bases loaded, 2 out double in the bottom of the 6th inning to give Salem a 6-5 lead, and Avery Gullion made that stand in the 7th as Salem pulled out a 6-5 victory after trailing 5-3 heading into their final at bat. Payton was the starting pitcher allowing 3 hits and no earned runs while striking out 6 in four innings of work. Avery Gullion came in and worked the final 3 innings and earned the win. He allowed no hits and 1 earned run while striking out 5. At the plate, Payton had 2 hits including that double, Salgado singled and scored twice, Avery Gullion scored a run, Evan Barnes had a hit and run scored, Green singled and Brody Collier had a hit and scored.
