Nix 1-hit Shutout Leads Salem To Regional Finals

Noah Nix surrendered 1 hit in his complete game shutout over Greenville 4-0 lifting Salem to the 2a Greenville finals tomorrow morning.  The Cats scored a run in the first 2 innings and then plated 2 more on a 2-run double from Brogan Gregg in the 6th.  That was plenty for the sophomore Nix who allowed 1 hit and struck out 7.  He threw 80 pitches, 60 strikes.  Isaak Williams added 2 hits along with Griffin Day.  Gavin Zimmerman singled and Aden Susmena and Keaton Gullion scored runs.  Salem will advance to play TTown tomorrow at 11am for the regional title.

In 1a regional semifinals yesterday, Altamont beat the hosts at Brownstown 15-2, New Athens nipped Carlyle at Christ Our Rock 7-6, Cumberland beat the hosts at Neoga 11-2.
