A fire that apparently started in the kitchen heavily damaged a Central City home Thursday morning.
Centralia Fire Protection District Chief Ross Boshera reports the fire was at the George Jansen home at 327 North High Street. He was not home at the time.
Boshera says there was heavy fire upon arrival coming from the kitchen area. It had broken through a window and also burned a portion of the roof. The entire home received heavy heat and smoke damage.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
While there were no human injuries, eight dogs inside the home all perished.
Centralia City and Sandoval Firemen provided mutual aid assistance on the scene while Salem and Kell stood by the Centralia Fire Protection District in the event of another fire.
The fire call came in at 10:37 Thursday morning and firemen were on the scene for about two hours.
