Trailing 8-4 in the top of the seventh inning, Salem scored 6 runs in the frame and came back to beat South Central on the road 10-8.

Salem had taken a 4-3 lead in the sixth when the Cougars would score 5 of their own to take the lead briefly.  Gavin Zimmermann had a big triple going 2-3 with 2 RBI, Aden Susmena  big hit in the 7th inning as he had 3 hits and drove in 3.  Isaak Williams also drove in 2 runs and Kam Wilkins had an RBI.

Noah Nix was the starter going 5.1 allowing 6 hits and 3 earned runs.  Colton Shelton earned the win in relief.  Aidan Dodson showed what all the fuss was about as the senior shortstop had a double and homered, drove in 3 and scored 3 runs.

SC also got RBI from Chase Thompson, Anthony Buonaura and Maddux Robb.  Coen West was the starting pitcher who allowed 4 hits and 2 earned runs with 6 ks in his 4.2 innings.

The Salem bench on the varsity team played a few innings against the bench from South Central.  Rhett Detering doubled home 2 runs and Braden Rector drove in a run.  Nate Paulson also had a hit and Colten Shelton scored along with Keaton Gullion.  Kam Wilkins worked 2 innings on the mound in the win and Gullion got the final 3 outs for the save.

Salem returns to action today in Cahokia play at Roxana, while South Central will have a tough test at home against Newton.


North Clay short-gamed Casey-Westfield 12-2 in Louisville.  Alex Boose, Ian Jones and Carder Walden each doubled.  Jones, Walden and Ayden Jones each drove in 2 runs, Alex Boose also had an RBI and 3 runs scored.
