The Franklin Park Bobcats traveled to Highland for a very competitive meet yesterday and came away with a new school record holder in the discus. Brylee Pennypacker broke a record over 20 years old set by Kelsi Rinehart of just over 99-feet when she went 105’8” easily smashing the mark. That was good enough to win the event with teammate Sydney Stadler 2nd.
The Salem track team competed with Highland and O’Fallon Fulton. No team scores were kept. Salem had 10 PR’s on the day and met 7 state standards.
In the shot put, Silas Lux and Caeden Miraglia went 1-2 in the boys event. Sydney Stadler and Bailee Patton did the same on the girls side. In the discus, Trey Clark and Miraglia took the top 2 spots on the boys side. In the long jump, Marquis Ettress won with Scout Puricelli 4th. Mya Russell was the girls champ with Alison Thurman 4th. In the high jump, Avery Gullion jumped the state standard of 5-6 and then a PR of 5-8 on his way to a 2nd place finish with Madden Thompson 3rd. Lily Holsapple won the girls competition.
In the hurdles, Thompson and Alex Spencer were 1-2 with Addy Douglas winning the girls race with Kayleigh Jarrett 3rd and Pennypacker 4th. Payton Gullion won the 400m in 58.7 with Skyler Clark 2nd. On the girls side, Charlotte Johnson was 4th and Thurman 5th. In the mile, Alex Spencer won the boys race and Kendall Zimmermann 2nd in the girls race. Spencer also won the 800 with Zimmermann 4th. Trey Clark and Avery Gullion went 1 and 3 in the 200 with Quinn Wolfe 4th in the girls race.
In the 7th grade 100, Kyler King won with Puricelli 3rd. Maddy Dulaney won the girls race with Jarrett 2nd. In the 8th grade boys race, Ettress was 1st and Miraglia 3rd. Pennypacker was 2nd and Donoho 4th.
The girls varsity 4×100 won their race with Donoho, Pennypacker, Jarrett and Dulaney. The boys 4×200 team of Thompson, Gullion, Gullion and Clark won their race. The girls team of Thurman, Jarrett, Wolfe and Dulaney were 2nd. And the 4×400 team of Avery Gullion, Skyler Clark, Alex Spencer and Payton Gullion remained undefeated on the season running in 3:59.
