The Christ Our Rock Silver Stallions Track and Field Boys and Girls team got the week rolling on the right foot today at The Tri-County Invitational at Breese Community High School.
The day began with Jr. Sarah McKowen running a stellar 3200 meter run winning the race in a Personal best time of 12:15.7 shattering her previous PR by: 30 and running faster than the state qualifying time (12:26). She would go on to finish 2nd in the 800 meter run (2:33.2) and if that wasn’t enough she also won the 1600 meter run in 5:55.9. She had a remarkable day!
Her teammate Rylee Brammeier also had strong showings finishing 3rd and medaling in the 3200 meter run (13:07.4) and 4th in the 1600 meter (6:11.5).
The boys 4×800 meter relay team of Zerek Koch , Yillian Lu, Isaiah Lyons and Elijah Gregory were also Tri-County champions bringing home the 1st place medals in a time if 9:03.7 the 2nd fastest 4×800 in school history. Gregory who anchored that race would come back to take 2nd in the 1600 meter run (4:49.5) and his teammate Zerek Koch would also place and PR in that race finishing 6th in 5:18.1.
Other placers for the Stallions and Lady Stallions on the day included: Isaiah Lyons 5th in the 400 meter (:56.8), Alijah Morris 4th in the long jump in a PR of 17’5″. Lillian Wedekemper was 6th in the 300 hurdles and Madi Nolte 8th in the Shot Put with a PR of 22’10.4″.
There were also several other Personal Records set on the day as Remington Burleyson would PR in the Discus 83’11.8″, Jayden Cushman PR 69′.90″ Discus, Thomas Taylor 29’6.7″ in the Shot Put, Alijah Morris in the 300IM hurdles (:49.3) and Lillian Wedekemper in the High Jump.
