Salem grad Kyla (Cook) Simon completed her first Ironman competition competing in the Ironman Texas 70.3. She completed the 1.2 mile swim in 46:20, the 56 mile bike ride in 3:08:20 and then the 13.1 mile run in 2:26.14 for a total time of 6:23:14. Via her sister’s Facebook page, Kyla said the best part was every time she heard someone or a group cheering her on and she didn’t have one specific least favorite part. She added overall it was a great experience and she definitely will be doing others. She also thanked everyone for the nice and encouraging comments cheering her on from all over the country.
