Introducing the 2023 SIMMS Kickoff Tournament CHAMPIONS, our Salem Lady Bobcats! The Lady Bobcats competed against some tough teams this past weekend and took home first place.
Saturday started with a 7-0 victory over Marion. Finding the back of the net was Emily Guzman with 2, Hailey Ealey with 2, Shelby Johnson, Sarah Hosie, and Riley Killian. Defensively the Lady Bobcats had a strong performance from Ria Niepoetter and Sylvey Helm.
The girls came back to play a late game under the lights against Harrisburg; the game was a dogfight with Shelby Johnson scoring the lone goal with just 10 minutes to go in the game and Salem walking away with a 1-0 win. Kourtney Garrison, Addy Lever, and Riley Stanford controlled mid field and created quality scoring chances for Kiwi Kunstman.
The Lady Bobcats again met up with Harrisburg for the championship game played this afternoon, resulting in a 4-0 win for Salem. Emily Guzman and Shelby Johnson scored two goals each. Adysen Pracht and Braelyn Holzhausen kept the ball in the offensive zone for the majority of the game and Lilly Davis cleared the ball on the back end preventing the other team from setting up their offense.
Lilly Myers was the keeper for all three games and did not allow a goal all weekend. Brynn Kessler was the center back that controlled the defense and prevented numerous shots from getting thru to the keeper.
Congratulations on a great start to your season, ladies!
