A fire listed as suspicious in nature gutted a vacant condemned home at 521 West 6th Street in Centralia Friday night.

All available Centralia City Firemen were called to fight the fire.   Flames were already through the roof when firemen arrived on the scene.   They fought the blaze from an aerial truck initially before using a ground attack to put out the remaining flames.  The firefighting was complicated because the home had a full basement.

The fire appears to have started inside the rear portion of the home.  Firemen were still searching for an exact cause.

A neighbor first reported the fire after hearing noises at 8:41 Friday night.  Firemen were on the scene until 11:30 Friday night.
