3 of the 4 girls state basketball champions are from the 618 after a great weekend at Redbird Arena in Normal.
Okawville own the 1a state title knocking off Christopher in a rematch of the 2019 SIJHSAA State Final at Rend Lake, winning 56-35. Alayna Kraus paced the Lady Rockets with 21, Megan Rennegarbe added 17. First Team All Stater Amiah Hargrove led Christopher with 19. It’s the 3rd state title in Okawville’s history.
Mater Dei won the 2a title thanks to a historic performance from sophomore Alyssa Koerkenmeier. She recorded the first ever triple double in the girls state tournament going for 23 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocked shots as the Lady Knights beat Byron 62-46 for the school’s first ever state title.
The 3a title went to Nazareth Academy who beat Lincoln 63-52.
In 4a, O’Fallon is the state champs after their win over Lisle Benet Academy 62-57. It’s O’Fallon’s first ever state title in the girls program history.
