The Christ Our Rock Stallions led for all of the first half and into the 3rd quarter in a tight ballgame with St Anthony for the South Central Regional title last night. The Bulldogs took the lead a minute into the 4th quarter and held off the Stallions 40-34. Christ Our Rock missed some open looks from 3 early in the game, but their defense was stifling and they definitely made Coach Reuter proud.
“We expected to win, I mean we missed a lot of shots we normally make. And they were open shots. I told them you can’t put your head down knowing you played so hard and defensively they kept us in the game.”
Parker Boehne led Christ Our Rock with 13, Ryan Wuebbels added 10 and Myles Pryor finished with 7. Westerndorf had 20 in the win for St Anthony.
Also last night, Webber won their own regional with a 52-49 win over Sesser. Gibault beat Lovejoy at Dupo 71-57 behind 25 from Kaden Augstine. Mounds Meridian beat the hosts at Goreville 85-72. Wayne City won their first regional title since 1994 beating Okawville 52-42 to win the New Athens Regional. At Nokomis, Altamont beat the hosts 59-37, Madison beat the hosts at Raymond Lincolnwood 59-40 and Casey over Macon Meridian at Toledo 52-46.
