A first half scoring drought proved to be the difference as Breese Central knocked off Benton 44-29 at the 2a DuQuoin Sectional semifinal. The Lady Cougars will take on arch rival Mater Dei in tomorrow night’s finals after the Lady Knights beat Massac County 55-45.
In other 2a sectional semifinals, at Pana, the hosts got 17 from Anna Beyers with Chloe Ashcraft adding 22 in their 59-52 win over TTown. In the loss, Kaylee Niebrugge had 29. Pana will play Paris who beat Robinson 41-27. At Pleasant Plains, Hillsboro lost to Quincy Notre Dame 67-30 and Staunton lost to Camp Point Central 62-26.
Also in 1a sectionals at Casey, Neoga beat Hume Shiloh 54-41 and St Anthony lost to Tuscola 45-41. At Christopher, the hosts got 22 from Amiyah Hargrove in their 56-45 win over Goreville. They will play Edwards County who beat Pope County 65-34. At Jacksonville, Alayna Kraus scored 25 points and Megan Rennegarbe 22 as Okawville rolls past Routt 69-34. They will play tomorrow in the championship against Carlyle who beat Hardin Calhoun 54-45.
In 3a sectionals at Centralia, the Mount Vernon Lady Rams outgunned East St Louis 85-81. They advance to play Highland after their 52-28 win over Mattoon. At Rochester, Lincoln beat Mt Zion 69-31 and Rochester over Mahomet Seymour 54-45.
In 4a at O’Fallon, the host Lady Panthers upset Alton 49-43 and will get Normal Community at Normal West tomorrow following their 60-22 win over East Moline United.
