The South Central Cougars season came to an end at home falling to Cisne on Saturday 61-59 as Cooper Bowen hit an 18-footer with 1.3 seconds left to give the Runnin Lions the win. SC ends their year at 21-11. Anden Atwood led Cisne with 24. Aidan Dodson finished his historic career with 21 points and 719 total points on the season. Ethan Watwood finished with 13, Rahkeim Anderson added 11 and Anthony Buonaura finished with 9.
Also in 1a regional openers on Saturday, Altamont beat Mulberry Grove 84-28, Webber over Woodlawn 62-53, Carlyle beat Edinburg 62-30, Christ Our Rock got 20 from Jayden Bazile in their 68-31 win over Red Hill. St Anthony eliminated Sandoval 74-40, North Clay over Dieterich 63-52, Patoka/Odin lost at St Elmo/Brownstown 64-29.
The regional semifinals will be held on Wednesday. At South Central, Christ Our Rock will look for their 3rd win of the season over Cisne followed by St Anthony and North Clay. At Nokomis, Altamont takes on Carlyle followed by St Elmo/Brownstown and Nokomis.
In 3a openers at Marion, Wildcats Evan Noelle had 39 points in their 69-61 win over Effingham. Wednesday in 3a regional semifinals at Mascoutah, the Centralia Orphans take on Waterloo followed by Mascoutah and Carbondale. At Mount Vernon, the Rams take on Marion and Herrin plays Olney
In 4a semifinals on Wednesday at O’Fallon it’s Belleville East and Granite City followed by O’Fallon and Belleville West. Edwardsville will play Collinsville at Quincy with Quincy and Alton in the other semifinal.
