John A. Logan (15-0, 22-2) extended the Volunteers’ winning streak to 20 games with a 108-71 home win over Lake Land (5-12, 14-14).
Vincennes 86; Lincoln Trail 60
Vincennes improved to a 24-3 overall record by beating visiting Lincoln Trail, 86-60, to stay firmly in second place (12-3) in the NJCAA Central District race.
The Blazers rolled to a 43-25 halftime lead and weren’t threatened by the Statesmen (4-16, 12-16) who lost for the 13th time in the last fourteen games.
Caleb Johnson scored 13 of his game-high 22 points in the final half while Michael Osei-Bonsu listed his seventh double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and grabbing eleven rebounds. Tasos Cook buried three treys and scored 11 points.
Lincoln Trail got 19 points from Clint Wickcliffe.
SWIC 70; Olney Central 68
Visiting Southwestern Illinois slipped into third place in the District standings, beating Olney Central, 70-68, on a pair of Ethyn Brown free throws with eight seconds left in the game.
Brown led the Blue Storm (10-5, 19-8) with 15 points. Jaquias Franklin scored 13, Saxton Hoepker, 11, while Dre Boyd netted ten.
Javeckkio Thomas had 22 points and ten rebounds for the Blue Knights (9-5, 16-8) with 19 points including 15-17 FTA from JaKobe Thompson and another ten points and ten boards from Gavin Gilstrap.
SWIC led 35-31 at halftime.
Lewis & Clark 84; Wabash Valley 77
L.T. White’s 21 points led Lewis & Clark past visiting Wabash Valley, 84-77, in Godfrey.
Armond Williams added 17 points for the Trailblazers (5-11, 9-14) while another 13 points by Nuvaun Peterson.
Ksaun Casey of WVC topped all scorers with 29 points. Gary Clay scored 17 points and Jakobi Head finished with fifteen.
The Warriors dropped to 5-10 in District play and stands 14-13 overall on the season.
L&C led 39-28 at halftime.
Rend Lake 63; Shawnee 60
Rend Lake captured the I-57 battle, beating the Shawnee Saints, 63-60, in Ullin.
Jackson Creek put up three 3’s and scored 16 points for the winning Warriors (8 -17).
Blake McKay and Brennan Lovette scored 12 points each whlle Carson Prost scored eleven.
Shawnee (11-14) was led by Ashton Young who hit three treys and scored 15 points while Elijah Edwards drained four triples and scored fourteen points.
Rend Lake led 29-27 at halftime.
