Bond has been set at $10,000 for a 47-year-old Centralia man who was formally charged in Marion County Court Wednesday for the attempted robbery of the Casey’s East General Store on East Noleman Street.
Centralia Police say Tywon Webster of East Rhodes allegedly entered the store yelling at the clerk that he needed $20 and a lighter. After the clerk reportedly yelled ‘get out’, Webster allegedly reached around to the cash register but didn’t get any money. He then left the store and got into the passenger side of a vehicle.
Centralia Police say they later located the vehicle, but Webster was no longer a passenger. He was later found walking at Rhodes and Lincoln streets where he was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail.
The robbery allegedly occurred at 6:27 Tuesday morning.
Judge Mark Stedelin during Webster’s initial court hearing ordered a fitness evaluation with a status hearing on December 20th. A public defender was appointed to represent him.
