Bond has been set at $250,000 for a 58-year-old Centralia man who has been charged in Marion County Court with weapons and drug offenses after Centralia Police were asked to investigate a suspicious person.
Frank Rapp of Marion Street was charged with a Class X offense of unlawful delivery of methamphetamine of between 15 and 100 grams. He’s also charged with possession of the same amount of meth. Rapp faces two weapons charges as well, being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Centralia Police say they were called to the 300 block of North Walnut Monday morning to a report of a man sitting in a car in the alley yelling and screaming. When he spotted a police car approaching, he allegedly began walking away from the car. Rapp reportedly refused to stop and threw something into the tree line. Once stopped, he allegedly told police he wanted to contact the homeowner about making repairs. Rapp then reportedly jumped into the passenger seat of his car and opened the center counsel where a meth pipe was in plain view.
Police later found the item that Rapp had tossed was a loaded handgun. In completing inventory before towing the vehicle, police allegedly found several baggies containing 18.5 grams of a white substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine along with a scale.
Judge Michael McHaney appointed a public defender to represent Rapp who had a preliminary hearing set for October 18th.
