2022 09/08 – Laural Ann Halfacre

Laural Ann Halfacre, 76, of Iuka, Illinois passed away in her home Monday, September 6, 2022, with her son by her side.

Born April 23, 1946, in Sumiton, Alabama, she was the daughter of Thomas D. and Omie (Haywood) Akers.

Graveside services have been planned for Thursday, 1:00 pm at the Palestine Cemetery, rural Iuka, Illinois. Visiting hours will be from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm at the Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home, 310 N. Broadway P O Box 97, Salem, IL 62881 (618) 548-1234. Memorials may be made to the Donor’s choice and will be accepted by the funeral home.

Laural united in marriage with Clinton E. Halfacre, on June 23, 1984, at Iuka. He preceded her in death in 2018.

She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Xenia, IL, and enjoyed being a homemaker, her family, cooking, baking, taking care of her home, and loved pets, especially her best friend Max who was right beside her until the end.

She is survived by her son, Mickey Clay and wife Stacy of Iuka, IL, granddaughter Autumn Stearns of Florida, and two great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Garrett.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas J. Akers.
