Glen Gordon, Sr., 79, of Iuka, Illinois passed away in the loving care of his family at home, on August 31, 2022.
Born April 10, 1943, in Iuka IL, he was the son of Artie L. and Mary V. (Eagan) Gordon who preceded him in death.
The public is invited to gather with the family from 1:00-3:00 pm for a time of visitation followed by a Celebration of Life service at 3:00 pm, Saturday, September 3, 2022, in the chapel of Sutherland – Rankin Funeral Home, 310 N. Broadway, P.O. Box 97, Salem, IL 62881 (618) 548-1234 with a special nephew, Brother Larry Woodward officiating. Casual dress is encouraged by the family. They also suggest memorials honoring Glen’s life be made to Spencer McIntosh, son of Alex and Josie McIntosh, and will be accepted by the funeral home. Glen will be remembered as being the manager of Salem IGA, working there for 35 years, always willing to give a helpful hand to their customers. Personally, he loved working with cattle on his farm and gardening along with his wife. He also was a real family man and loved spending time with his children, being Pop to his grandchildren and the family said “just loved kids in general.”
He married Lynda Gail Bray, on March 1, 1975, in Kell, and she survives in Iuka. Also surviving are his children Glen D. (Kimberly) Gordon, Jr. of Iuka, IL, Crystal White of Centralia, IL, Robyn Engler of Salem, IL, and Cheryl (Bruce) Clessa of Maryville, IL along with grandchildren Amanda (Dylan) Stevens, Allison (Nicholas) Parrish, Patrick (Chloe Harrington) Clessa, Dylan (Shelby) White, Charissa (Trey Williams) White, Devan White, Cole (fiancé Amanda Koehler) Gordon, Tyler Gordon, and great-grandchildren Kaelyn, Daxton, Emberly, and Jensen. He was also looking forward to the birth of another great-grandchild.
Also left to mourn his passing is son-in-law Dennis White of Iuka, IL, his siblings, Robert Gordon of Salem, IL, Carl Gordon of Iuka, IL, Floyd (Rhonda) Gordon of Iuka, IL, Arthur Gordon of Salem, IL, and Millie (Arthur) Weems of Texas, along with sister-in-law Betty Woodward of Salem, IL, Wally (Cindy) Bray of Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers John, Harrison, and James Gordon.
