Southbound Interstate 57 had to once again be shut down late Friday afternoon for a five-vehicle crash in a work zone area.
Initial information indicates a semi driver was unable to slow for traffic in front of him and started a chain reaction collision involving two other semis and two SUVs.
No one was injured severely enough to go to the hospital.
The crash completely blocked the southbound lanes, resulting in traffic being detoured onto Route 161 to Route 37 to the Mt. Vernon area for 30 to 40 minutes before one lane could be reopened.
Kell Fire Protection firemen say all of the vehicles remained upright and none of the trucks lost any cargo.
State Police are handling the crash, but reports are unavailable.
The crash was first reported at 4:12 Friday afternoon.
