Smoke on the Water Fest kicks off in Centralia Friday evening and continues through the weekend.
The event will include boat races at Raccoon Lake and a number of activities at Castle Ridge which is sponsoring the weekend.
Alan Owen is once again organizing the boat races.
“We are having a national event and the US Title Series will be here also like they were last year and they will be having a sanctioned race along with ours. We will be testing and some qualifying heats on Friday the 12th, racing on Saturday and Sunday starting at noon and running until at least 5:30 or so.”
At Castle Ridge, Greg Sutton says a number of activities are planned.
“Friday and Saturday of the boat races we do have live entertainment that evening as well as we are going to have vendor fairs and food & beverages and helicopter rides and other different activities for people when they come. But the feature is the boat races.”
The events Friday night will be capped off with a free concert from the band Roaming Home from 8 to 11 pm. Saturday will include a free show from the Brat Pack at eight pm. The Brat Pack is one of the region’s most popular totally 80’s music cover band. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. VIP tables are available for the Saturday night concert and can be reserved on the Castle Ridge website www.castleridge.com/events.
