The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a vehicular hijacking that occurred on South Perrine Street outside the Centralia city limits Monday night.

The owner of the pickup truck said he had pulled over to help the driver of another vehicle.   As he was doing so, he saw a male subject that he had not seen earlier getting into his truck.   The person who entered the truck then fired a shot toward the vehicle owner and fled northbound on Perrine Street with his truck.

The female, who had appeared to have car trouble, then left in her vehicle.  The Sheriff’s Department says she was in a small silver passenger car.

The sheriff’s department reports the pickup was a Red 2007 2500 Chevy Diesel pickup with “Evans Tree Service” signs on it.  The truck has not been located.

The owner of the truck was not injured.

The incident was reported to the sheriff’s office at 9:46 Monday night.
