Dale L. Jones, 95, of Dix, passed away at 9:25 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2022, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor, in Mt. Vernon.
He was born March 8, 1927, in Carter Nine, Oklahoma, the son of John E. and Katherine Fannie (Valentine) Jones. He was married for 75 years to Nina C. Roberson, and they were married on July 19, 1947, at his parent’s home in Dix, by Byron Bruce. She survives in Mt. Vernon.
Mr. Jones attended school in Carter Nine, Oklahoma, before attending Dix Grade School and Dix High School, and graduating from Centralia High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, on a supply ship in the South Pacific. He later retired from the Oil Industry, after working for Carter Oil, Humble Oil, and Exxon. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for several years.
In addition to his wife, Nina Jones, he is survived by one son, Randall Dale Jones and wife Jana of Iuka; two daughters, Diana Lee Winternheimer and husband Ron of Dahlgren, and Sandra Lynn Pinkston, of Mt. Vernon; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Shirley Finn; and beloved pet, “Bobo”.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two infant sons; brother, Donald E. Jones, Sr.; and step-sister, Mary Mae Modlin.
Funeral services for Mr. Jones will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2022, at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix, with Rev. Randy Hayes and Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Graveside Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #141, of Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 14, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.
