Cleanup is underway in the Centralia City Council chambers where a storm drain pipe clogged during the heavy overnight rain and water came through the ceiling above the area where the city council sits.

City Manager Korey Smith says a contractor has been called to determine the needed cleanup.   He thinks mostly the area needs to be dried out and some ceiling tiles that fell being replaced.  Smith says work is also underway to try and unclog the stopped drain pipe.

The damage was discovered when city employees arrived for work Thursday morning.

As a result of the damage, the Centralia Plan and Zone Commission meeting Thursday night has been postponed until Tuesday night at five.

The Centralia City Council meets at six Monday night and Smith is confident the dry-out and repairs will be completed in time for the meeting to still be held in council chambers.
