Ruth Ann Holding, 79, of Mount Vernon, IL, passed away at 9:01 a.m. on October 23, 2026, at Nature Trail Health Care in Mount Vernon, IL. She was born October 14, 1947, in Salem, IL, to LeRoy Reu and Anita (Reinhardt) Reu. Ruth married Kenneth B. Holding on April 10, 1999, in Mt. Vernon, IL, and he preceded her in death on July 08, 2010.
Ruth Ann is survived by her Daughters, Jennifer Rice of Mt. Vernon, IL, Janel and Husband Dale Mathus of Mt. Vernon, IL; Grandchildren, Alex Rice of Mt. Vernon, IL, Lauren and Husband Grant Smith of Mt. Vernon, IL, Everett Mathus of Mt. Vernon, IL; great-granddaughters, Jaelyn Rice, Joan Smith; stepdaughter, Kendra Holding; sisters-in-law, Sharon Reu of Mt. Vernon, IL, Kathy Reu of Greenville, IL; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her Father, LeRoy Reu, Mother, Anita Reu; Husband Kenneth B. Holding; Brothers, Bobby Reu and Lowell Reu.
Ruth Ann loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church and was a part of the Ladies of Faith. She was a member of the ladies of the Elks and Beta Sigma Phi.
A Visitation will be held Monday, October 26, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Hughey Funeral Home, West Chapel, located at 601 S. 42nd Street in Mt. Vernon, IL. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 10:00 am at Faith Lutheran Church, with Pastor Joe Nehring officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, IL. Memorials may be made in Ruth Ann’s honor to Faith Lutheran Church.
