Robert Wayne Tinsley, 84, of Dix, passed away at 9:27 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at his home.

He was born July 9, 1942, in Dix, the son of Adra Wayne and Lucille Emma (Hill) Tinsley.  On December 11, 1970, at New Hope “Webb” Baptist Church, he married Sandra Ann Breeze, and she survives.

Robert was a graduate of Woodlawn High School and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War.  He worked for many years as a plumber-pipefitter with Local #653, and was a member of Boyd Christian Church.  A lifelong and passionate conservationist and outdoorsman, he enjoyed nothing more than watching a covey of quail or a pheasant rise up in front of one of his many bird dogs over the years.

In addition to his wife, Sandra Tinsley, he is survived by his son, Dr. Tyson Tinsley and wife, Kelly of Dix; daughter, Kara Tinsley of Dix; five grandchildren, Becker Andrews, Tinsley Andrews, Addison Tinsley, Clover Tinsley, and August Tinsley; and sisters, Mary Burnes, Carolyn Lane, and Cathy Justice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adra and Lucille Tinsley; and brothers-in-law, Dan Tinsley, Carl Lane, and Jim Burnes.

No public services will be held for Mr. Tinsley.  His family will gather privately for a celebration of his life at a later date.  The family has requested no flowers or memorial gifts, but instead, that people plant a tree, take a kid fishing, or just watch the birds for a while.  That would have made him most happy.  Online condolences may be made at www.osbornfuneral.com or on the Osborn Funeral Home Facebook page.
