Anetta Kay Brazel, age 73, of Salem, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Anetta was born on August 4, 1953, in Salem, Illinois, the daughter of Lewis W. Maier and Lillian (Hopkins) Maier.
Throughout her working years, Anetta dedicated herself to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the healthcare field. Even after retirement, she enjoyed staying active and could often be found working the front desk at Highpoint on Friday afternoons.
Anetta was a member of Salem First Baptist Church and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed the friendships and fellowship she found through her church and community activities. Above all, she cherished her family and the time spent with those she loved.
Anetta is survived by her daughter, Amy Brazel of Joliet; granddaughter, Kailey Hulihan of Denver, Colorado; brother, Francis Maier and wife Penny; nephew, Jeremy Maier and wife Kerry; and nieces, Ashley Blackford and husband Jason, and Audra Sanders and husband Tyler.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Lillian Maier.
Funeral services for Anetta Kay Brazel will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem, with Andy DeWitt officiating. Burial will be at Martin Cemetery in Alma. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
