David Edward Lender, age 81, passed away at home on August 17, 2026. He is survived by his children sons; Adam Lender, Joshua (Jean) Lender, step-son Beau Farias; daughter, Sarah (Carl) Hawkins (nee Lender); six grandchildren, Kelsey (Billy) Miller, Athena (Zach) McCallister, Alana, Matthea, and Rena Farias; nine great-grandchildren, Aubree, Lilyana, Emilia, Sophia, Matthew, Veronica, Valynn, Colson, and Aria; sister, Judith Elam (nee Lender); as well numerous nieces, nephews, adopted children and grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Laverne (Herb) Wallar (nee Chappell) and Norman Lender; brother, Norman Lender II; brothers-in-law, Roland Anderson and George Elam; sister-in-law, Beverly (David) Kozlowski; his son, Norman Lender III; step-son, Steven Farias; and his loving wife of 43 years, Janice Lender (nee Anderson).

David was born on October 31, 1944, in Centralia, IL, and was an active member of the Church of the Good Shepard: Evangelical Covenant in Joliet, IL, and Bethel Church in Odin, IL. He proudly served his country as a veteran and dedicated many years of his life to serving others as a correctional officer. He loved tending to his plants and could often be found talking to the animals, two of the simple joys that brought him great happiness.

Per David’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and there will be no public services.
