A 54-year-old Centralia man charged with burglary pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of criminal trespass to property in Marion County Court on Friday.
Douglas Johnson of Beacham Street was sentenced to two years’ probation, fined $150, and to pay a $600 probationary fee.
Johnson was one of two people arrested when Centralia Police broke up a burglary in progress at the Plumbers and Pipefitters building on South Chestnut in May 2024. He initially refused to come out until police indicated a canine would be sent in. The criminal trespass charge he pleaded was a misdemeanor count that said Johnson had knowingly entered the building without lawful authority.
