A shooting in the 900 block of East Kell Street in Centralia late Sunday afternoon has resulted in one death and at least three injuries.
Marion County Coroner Claude Howell confirms he was called to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia, where he pronounced one of the shooting victims dead. The State Police, which is heading the investigation, asked the coroner not to release any further information.
State Police and Centralia Police have not released any details at this time.
Police agencies from the four-county area around Centralia were called to assist with the investigation, as well as to help with crowd control, which was an issue after the shooting occurred. Portable light systems were brought into the area where the shootings occurred to allow the investigation of the crime scene to continue after dark.
St. Mary’s Hospital was also reportedly locked down after the shooting victims were brought there.
