The Salem Police Department has named its officer and telecommunicator of the year.
Chief Todd Boles presented Ian King with the Officer of the Year Award and Emily Meador-Day with the Telecommunicator of the Year Award. Both were recognized for their work performance and dedication to the department.
Chief Boles also recognized the runner-up for each award. Trent Swagler was honored for his efforts in investigations and filling in patrol during 2025 while the department was short of officers to cover shifts. Brad Crow was recognized as the runner-up for dispatch.
The awards were handed out Saturday night during the annual Salem Police Department Christmas party at the Salem Country Club, organized by Salem Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #333.
