Howard was raised on the farm in rural Hoyleton and was grateful to continue to farm the ground God blessed him with. Along with farming, he did HVAC work on the side until he was eighty-six, later starting his own business, Maschhoff’s Electric, all the while teaching and training his son, who later started his own business. Howard was proud of his community of Hoyleton, which he called home for most of his life. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton, and his confirmation was on April 2, 1944. Howard served his church faithfully, helping with the installation of their HVAC system. He was a member of the Lions Club and was a talented member of his bowling team. Howard looked forward to Hoyleton’s Hofbrauhausfest, where you could find him volunteering wherever help was needed to ensure the festival’s success. He loved to watch Nascar, especially Dale Ernhardt Sr. and Tony Stewart. Howard and his wife, June, liked to travel to Las Vegas, excited to celebrate winning a jackpot during one of their visits. His family will remember how he carried a sense of calm in all situations, the laid-back one in his marriage, and a great temperament for his daughters. Howard was a man of God, generous with his time and service, hardworking, loving and supportive of his family, and a highly respected gentleman.
