The IHSA state volleyball tournaments will wrap up today after semifinals were played yesterday on the campus of Illinois State.
In 1a, NCOE lost for the first time this year to a 1a school as they fell to Stockton 25-17, 23-25, 13-25. They will play for 3rd place today against Tremont at 9am today after they lost to Cissna Park in straight sets. The championship is set for 10:30.
The Columbia Eagles are 38-1 and will play for the 2a state title after their 25-18, 25-8 win over Rockford Christian. They will take on Bloomington Central Catholic in the title game at 1:55 following the 3rd place match between Rockford Christian and Port Byron Riverdale at 12:25. The Lady Eagles are trying to join the men’s soccer team as state champions this fall.
In 3a semifinals, Nazareth Academy beat Providence Catholic in straight sets and will play Normal University in today’s 5:30 championship after their straight sets win over Prairie Ridge. The 3rd place match is at 4pm.
In 4a, Lisle Benet Academy beat Lockport Township and Chicago Marist over Fremd. The 3rd place match starts at 7:25 and the state title game at 8:55.
