Salem junior Mya Russell is on her way to the Girls 1a State Golf Tournament after placing 4th overall shooting 2-over 74 at Monticello playing on the Blue course at the University of Illinois Golf Course. Russell will compete Friday and Saturday at Red Tail Run Golf Club in Decatur.
Centralia’s Olivia Johnson was 3rd at the Monticello Sectional. The senior shot even par 72 and moves on to State. Sienna Feig also played and shot 97 to finish her season.
Also moving on as individuals were Carlyle’s Abby Steinkamp and Ava Meyer along with TTown’s Brileigh Bloemer and Molly Habing.
Not advancing were North Clay’s Kennedy Jones who shot 85
4-time reigning and defending state champion Mt Carmel won the event shooting 294, 28 strokes better than St Anthony who also advances along with Monticello. Lady Aces Zeme Moore shot 3-under 69 to win medalist honors.
