Jimmie Fouts, age 84 of Salem, Illinois, passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Jimmie was born on June 11, 1941, in Selma, Kansas, the son of Albert and Dorothy (Buckley) Fouts. He married Mary (Essex) Fouts on August 8, 1973, in Matton, Illinois, and she preceded him in death in 2015.
Survivors include his two daughters, Hope Jones and husband Willie of Kell, and Kristy Burr of Salem; three sons by a previous wife, Charlotte Corle, Mark Spellman and wife Diane of Oklahoma, Tim Spellman and wife Lacigale of Florida, and Kent Spellman and wife Amy of Kansas; sisters, Anna and boyfriend Joe of Colorado, Billie Jo and Randy of Kansas, Deniese and Bruce of Kansas, Betty Davis of Kansas, Ruth Ann and Mike of Kansas; two brothers, Sam and Kathy of Kansas and Roy and Stacey of Kansas; grandchildren, Michael and Dakotah Hill of Mt. Vernon, Sedrick and Emily Hill of Tennessee, Lindsay Jennings of Salem, Mark and April Spellman of Colorado, Misty and Josh Reed of Oklahoma, Kandace and Matt Foreman of Kansas, Kristen and Brett Shaw of Kansas, Tim Spellman of Kansas, Genavieve Spellman of Florida, and Ashlee Wilson of Kansas; 14 great grandchildren with one on the way; one great-great grandchild; along with several nieces and nephews.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two sons, Brian and Gene; brother, Jack; and a sister, Connie.
Jimmie loved spending time with his family riding horses, go-carts, and taking trips. He made friends with everyone he spoke to. He enjoyed going to church and he also spoke highly of his pastor Jim Chapman and all the wonderful people at the church. Jimmie didn’t know a stranger.
Funeral services for Jimmie Fouts will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Noon at the Grace Church of the Nazarene with Jim Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at the Alma Cemetery in Alma, Illinois. There will be a time of visitation on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to the family and will be received at the church or at the Crouse Funeral Home in Salem who is assisting the family with arrangements.
